AI Ready RVA Government Cohort Tuesday, October 27, 2026 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM ET ECPI University 11104 W Broad St. Glen Allen, VA 23060 Speaker: Anna Dockum, Copilot Solutions Engineer, Microsoft About This Event You have debated where AI fits in government. Now let’s build something. Government teams face a different AI reality than most private-sector organizations. Approved tools can be limited. Security, governance, procurement, and compliance matter. And many of the AI platforms making headlines are not tools public-sector employees can simply start using tomorrow. That is exactly why this AI Ready RVA Government Cohort is focused on Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio . For many government organizations, Microsoft is already part of the technology environment. That means what you see during this session is something you may actually be able to take back to your agency and explore. And we are not starting with a hypothetical problem. Government still runs on thousands of processes built around spreadsheets, email, PDFs, legacy databases, and applications that have quietly kept agencies moving for years. Modern AI tools are creating new opportunities to improve those workflows without pretending the old systems do not exist. This session is about seeing what that path can look like. We Are Building an AI Agent Live Anna Dockum, Copilot Solutions Engineer at Microsoft, will guide the room through building a real Permit Application Assistant using Copilot Studio. Not a slide about an agent. An actual working agent. Together, we will see how to: Ground the agent in real permit guidance Give users a conversational way to find the information they need Add a simple application-intake workflow Test the agent Identify where the experience breaks down Refine it together in real time The goal is not to turn everyone in the room into a developer. The goal is to make AI agents tangible. You should leave understanding what one looks like, what it takes to build one, and where a similar approach could fit inside your own agency. From Legacy Workflow to AI-Enabled Workflow Think about the process at your agency that everyone knows is harder than it should be. Maybe information lives across multiple PDFs. Maybe requests arrive through email. Maybe someone manually copies information between spreadsheets. Maybe an…
